Crafting for Dollars, and a Free Pattern for You!

My sister and I are doing a small craft/vendor open-house sort of thing at our parents' house on Monday and Tuesday.

I mostly don't try to sell crocheted items anymore, but I do have a bit of "inventory" from my Etsy shop and previous sales endeavors, so we're going to give it a shot.

The dilemma I see with selling crocheted items is that it's nearly impossible to price at a saleable amount, and even come close to making up for the time you put into creating it.

For that reason, several of my (free, as always) patterns are attractive enough to sell (I hope), and quick enough to make so there's the potential for a bit of a profit margin.  If there are any crocheters out there looking for quick items to sell at craft shows, etc., take a look at the Wrist Ridges pattern on my website, and also this new one, Knuckleshells.  Both are very quick to work up and don't use up too much yarn.  Hope this helps someone out!

  1. Artists and crafters rarely are compensated for their time. The world is lucky we enjoy it so, or there wouldn't be any handmade wares at all!! Good luck with your sale!

Especially since there are sometimes thoughtful comments I'd like to respond to but the commenter has a no-comment email address, I'm trying another tactic In the never-ending battle of indecision between responding to comments by email or answering them on the blog -- I'll do both! Of course, they'll be the same reply in both places ;)
