A Favorite Thing: Guideposts Magazine

Joining Claudia over at Mockingbird Hill Cottage for A Favorite Thing Saturday...

You might not know it from reading my blog, and God knows my family might not agree, but I'm TOTALLY ALL ABOUT  Positive Thinking and things like The Power of Intention and the Law of Attraction.  I just forget to practice them a lot of the time.  Okay, most of the time.

Therefore, any little reminder that Thinking Positively actually is my guiding philosophy would be greatly appreciated.  And apparently someone somehow somewhere knew that, because this began showing up at my house in September:

Monthly copies of Guideposts magazine!  I used to have a subscription to this collection of uplifting stories and I really enjoyed it, but for some reason I never renewed it when it ran out.  Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and so it's been that much more inspiring to rediscover this little treasure, co-founded by one of the first leaders of the positive thinking movement, Norman Vincent Peale.

I emailed the company to try and find out if someone was kind enough to send this gift subscription to me, or if it's something like a free subscription from the company to get me to renew next year (which I will!).  Either way, it's certainly A Favorite Thing!

  6. How fun to receive a surprise in the mail! I've never read Guideposts but have a friend who does and finds it calming and uplifting. Enjoy!

  7. Love this post! Glad I popped over to meet a fellow believer in the law of attraction and positive thinking. I've never had a subscription to Guideposts but I've read many stories while waiting in doctors and dentist offices. Reading positive articles and affirmations really helps to shift our thinking so I need to do that more often.

  8. I'm all about positivity and have read many of Mr. Peale's books. Guideposts are nice because the stories are usually short and sweet. Have a great day! Tammy

  9. My husband gets little quidepost paper pamphlets that make into little booklets every once in a while. When you tear the booklets apart there are three stories to read. He doesn't know when they started coming...years ago maybe. He tears them apart and we share them. I love the little uplifting stories.

  12. Hi Jeanmarie,
Oh...I love Guideposts! I have subscribed to it for many years. It is so full of uplifting stories. I'm glad you shared about it for those who haven't discovered it's treasures.

Especially since there are sometimes thoughtful comments I'd like to respond to but the commenter has a no-comment email address, I'm trying another tactic In the never-ending battle of indecision between responding to comments by email or answering them on the blog -- I'll do both! Of course, they'll be the same reply in both places ;)
